Silicon Wafer Prices Surge amid Tight Supply while Polysilicon Prices Stop Rising

SHANGHAI, Feb 10 (SMM) - Polysilicon: The price of polysilicon continued to rebound sharply this week. The mainstream price of recharging polysilicon was 240-260 yuan/kg, and that of dense polysilicon stood at 210-250 yuan/kg. Top-tier polysilicon producers continued to control shipments early this week. This hampered the production at silicon wafer plants, and forced them to accept higher priced orders. Confronting growing pressure from stock accumulation, some leading polysilicon producers stopped holding back cargoes, growing the market supply. Traded prices rose further, though. The price of polysilicon is likely to fall in the near term.

Silicon wafer: The mainstream traded price of monocrystalline silicon wafer M10 currently stands at 4.8 yuan/piece and that of monocrystalline silicon wafer G12 stands at 5.94 yuan/piece. The silicon wafer price was yanked this week with a weekly gain of over 20%. With robust demand for silicon wafer from solar cell plants, Zhonghuan Co. raised its quotes before the Chinese Lantern Festival and the market followed suit. Taking the 182 mm x 182 mm wafer for example, although the market barely accepted the price of 6.22 yuan/piece offered by Zhonghuan, the market price was raised to 6.2 yuan/piece after the cargoes quoted at 5.4 yuan/piece by one leading company was snapped up. The market has currently accepted the price of 6.2 yuan/piece.

Solar cell: The current mainstream transaction prices of monocrystalline PERC cell M10 were 1.09 yuan/W, and that of monocrystalline PERC cell G12 were 1.12 yuan/W. Cell companies continued to raise prices under the cost pressures.

Modules: The mainstream transaction price of single-sided 182mm monocrystalline silicon PERC module stood at 1.78 yuan/w, single-sided 210mm monocrystalline silicon PERC module 1.79 yuan/w, double-sided 182mm monocrystalline silicon PERC module 1.78 yuan /w, and double-sided 210mm monocrystalline silicon PERC module 1.80 yuan/w. Module prices have been stable for the moment. Module prices were relatively stable. On the one hand, the current cost pressure on module enterprises was limited by the high profits in the previous stage. On the other hand, terminal demand was limited.

 EAV films: The price of EVA granules rose 8.39% this week and the prices of mainstream photovoltaic-grade EVA stood at 16,500 yuan/mt (delivery to factory). The EVA film increased 10% accordingly. 

PV glass: The prices of PV glass remained unchanged this week. The prices of 3.2mm coated glass were 25.5-26.5 yuan/square meter, and that of 2.0mm PV glass were 18.5-19.5 yuan/square meter. The operating rates of domestic modules declined, but since the orders for February were signed at the beginning of the month, the weakening demand had little impact on PV glass prices in February. But subsequent prices may fall.

Terminals: During January 2 to January 5, SMM counted a total of 6 domestic winning bidders including Longi, JA Solar Technology and Trina Solar with 4 projects. Affected by the Chinese New Year holiday, the total installed capacity only reached 147.13MW, a decrease of 1.2GW compared to last week. The terminal demand for module will gradually pick up in the later period.  Due to the insufficient bid price data, the average bid price will not be counted this week.

Baru-baru ini, PLTS Luobusha Fase I berkapasitas 850 MW di Kabupaten Qusum, Tibet, yang dibangun oleh PowerChina, berhasil lolos uji terima penyelesaian, memberikan dukungan penting untuk meredakan ketegangan pasokan-permintaan listrik regional dan memperkuat benteng pasokan energi dataran tinggi. PLTS Luobusha di Kabupaten Qusum, Tibet, mencakup area sekitar 4.289,59 mu, dengan total kapasitas terpasang 850 MW. Ini merupakan gelombang pertama proyek PLTS komersial utama di Basis Energi Bersih Yazhong di Tibet dan proyek pembangkit listrik bersih PLTS terbesar di bagian tengah dan hilir Sungai Yajiang. Proyek ini dikembangkan dalam empat fase, dengan Fase I berkapasitas 200 MW dan elevasi rata-rata 4.700 meter. Chengdu Engineering Corporation di bawah PowerChina melaksanakan pembangunan stasiun penguat 220 kV, area PLTS 50 MW, jalur transmisi 20,74 km, dan perluasan gardu induk di sisi berlawanan; Sinohydro Bureau 9 melaksanakan pembangunan area ladang PLTS 150 MW, memasang total 348.000 modul PLTS, beserta 64 transformator tipe kotak dan 704 inverter.
