Benefitting from Rapidly Developing PV Industry, Tongwei Predicts A Surge in Its 2022 Profits

Published: Feb 8, 2023 10:10
Tongwei released its performance forecast for 2022.

Tongwei released its performance forecast for 2022. It is estimated that its net profit in 2022 stood at 25.2-27.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 207%-231%.

Regarding the performance changes, Tongwei said that the main reason is that benefiting from the continuous and rapid development of the photovoltaic industry, there was strong demand for high-purity crystalline silicon and solar cell products in 2022. The company's high-purity crystalline silicon production line continued to operate at full capacity last year, and new projects were quickly put into production and reached full capacity, enabling its production and profit to achieve a substantial increase year-on-year; the scale of solar cell production capacity continued to expand, the product structure was further optimized, and the profit increased significantly year-on-year.

[Distributed PV Module Prices Continue to Diverge]
Distributed prices remained divergent today, with some specialized module enterprises continuing to grab orders at low prices, while leading integrated producers largely kept their quotes unchanged due to cost pressure. In the short term, upstream and downstream enterprises are expected to continue bargaining over prices, with the overall trend showing a slight stabilization. Today, the price of distributed 210R modules stood at 0.714-0.726 yuan/W, temporarily stable.

[Solar: Bangladesh introduces $0.086/kWh tariff for net-metered rooftop solar with 5 GW target]
Bangladesh's Power Division announced a tariff of BDT 10.50 ($0.086)/kWh for surplus electricity from eligible rooftop solar systems under the country's net-metering regime, valid for three years through February 28, 2030. The maximum generation cost for rooftop solar systems with battery storage has been set at BDT 8/kWh, with the government adding a 20% profit margin and an 11.25% premium. Systems installed by February 28, 2027, qualifying under the Net Metering Guidelines 2025 are eligible for the incentive tariff. The government aims to install at least 5 GW of solar capacity through net metering by next summer to help address daily power shortages exceeding 3 GW during peak summer demand.
