According to the latest data released by the auto industry data forecasting company AutoForecast Solutions (AFS), the global auto production has been cut by about 316,000 million units as of February 5 as a result of car chip shortage.
North America is responsible for a large portion of the decline. Last week alone, the production cuts there amounted to about 11,500 vehicles on chip shortage, bringing local cumulative production reduction this year to 55,300 vehicles.
Other regions such as Asia and Europe have not seen new production cuts.
