SMM Survey: Many Silica Mining Companies are Shut Down for CNY Holiday in Advance

SHANGHAI, Jan 17 (SMM) – SMM has recently conducted a survey on 20 silica mining companies in Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou and other regions, involving a combined production capacity of 3.755 million mt.

SHANGHAI, Jan 17 (SMM) – SMM has recently conducted a survey on 20 silica mining companies in Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou and other regions, involving a combined production capacity of 3.755 million mt. The survey showed that most mining companies have shut down for the upcoming Chinese New Year and will not re-open until early February. These mining companies currently hold nearly a month of silica inventory after ramping up their production earlier. As such, the shutdowns will have limited impact on their shipments.
