SHANGHAI, Jan 16 (SMM) - Logistics services are about to be halted amid the approaching CNY holiday. Most smelters have completed their restocking targets and only some battery scrap traders supplied a small amount of goods. The production capacity of secondary lead in Anhui was concentrated and some smelters increased their production to 15,000 mt/day. Therefore, the stockpiling demand was still strong and the purchasing prices of battery scrap were high. In this scenario, a large amount of battery scrap from nearby provinces such as Jiangxi, Henan, and Shandong flowed into Anhui and many vehicles were queuing up to unload goods. In contrary, the battery scrap markets in other regions were relatively modest and the transactions decreased significantly due to the logistics disruption and the large increase in freight rates. At the same time, the battery scrap inventory of most smelters was able to support the production for 15-20 days, hence they were less willing to purchase. On the whole, the transactions in Anhui were the most active last week, while that in other regions were relatively flat.
