SHANGHAI, Dec 5 (SMM) - Recently, the battery scrap prices rose steadily due to the tight supply as the replacement demand of lead-acid battery declined. Amid the strict pandemic control measures in Chongqing, the secondary lead smelters in Yunnan and Guangxi became the main consumers of battery scrap. Some smelters in Jiangxi said that the costs of raw materials were high. If the purchasing prices of battery scrap continue to rise, they may reduce the production and purchasing of raw materials in the future. The production capacity of secondary lead smelters in Anhui was concentrated. Under the tight supply of battery scrap, the purchasing prices offered by enterprises remained high. The smelters in Hebei and Shandong had relatively small pressure from the raw material procurement compared with other regions, hence the purchasing prices of battery scrap climbed limitedly.
