Global Iron Ore Shipments Fell 1.7% Week-on-Week to 31.52 Million mt during November 28-December 4

SHANGHAI, Dec 5 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.52 million mt in the week ending December 4, a drop of 1.7% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Dec 5 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.52 million mt in the week ending December 4, a drop of 1.7% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia rose 2% on a weekly basis to 18.89 million mt, of which 15.32 million mt or 81.1% went to China, up 4.7%. The shipments from Brazil fell 13.5% on a weekly basis to 6.51 million mt, of which 3.86 million mt or 59.3% went to China, up 47.9%.

The four major mining companies shipped a combined 22.59 million mt of iron ore last week, a drop of 261,000 mt from a week earlier.

A total of 20.44 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 24.1% week-on-week. The arrivals of four major types of iron ore were down 6.24 million mt on a weekly basis to 20.43 million mt.
