Global Iron Ore Shipments Fell 4.6% Week-on-Week to 30.47 Million mt during October 3-9

SHANGHAI, Oct 10 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 30.47 million mt in the week ending October 9, a drop of 4.6% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Oct 10 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 30.47 million mt in the week ending October 9, a drop of 4.6% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia fell 8.8% on a weekly basis to 17.7 million mt, of which 13.27 million mt or 75% went to China, a decrease of 17%. The shipments from Brazil rose 7.2% on a weekly basis to 7.44 million mt, of which 3.42 million mt or 46% went to China, a decrease of 8.3%.

The four major mining companies shipped a combined 23.22 million mt of iron ore last week, an increase of 187,000 mt from a week earlier.

A total of 23.42 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 16.8% week-on-week.
