SHANGHAI, Oct 9 (SMM) - According to SMM statistics, the domestic polysilicon output in September was about 76,200 mt, an increase of nearly 23% from August. In September, the supply of polysilicon increased by nearly 15,000 mt. What Contributed to the Increase? Will the supply continue to surge in the future?

According to SMM, the growth of domestic polysilicon supply in September was mainly caused by two aspects. On the one hand, the impact of power cuts eased and some manufacturers that took maintenance in the early stage resumed the production. Therefore, the supply of polysilicon increased. Among them, the production resumption of leading enterprises, such as Xinte Energy, Sichuan GCL, and East Hope Group brought an increase of about 9,000 mt in polysilicon output. On the other hand, the smooth ramp-up of new production capacity also led to an increase in supply. Among them, GCL, Inner Mongolia Xinte, Qinghai Lihao and other manufacturers contributed another increase of about 7,000 mt of polysilison. Some manufacturers carried out routine maintenance in September, but most of them were second and third-tier enterprises. Therefore, the overall impact was relatively limited.

In addition, due to the Xinjiang pandemic in Xinjiang, polysilicon industry was affected by the poor transportation and delayed delivery. The overall output of local polysilicon producers remained normal.

SMM believes that in the follow-up market, domestic polysilicon output will continue to increase in October due to the increase in new production capacity and the improvement in downstream demand. However, due to the elimination of power cuts and maintenance factors in September, the month-on-month growth rate in October may decrease. In October, domestic polysilicon output is expected to be around 83,000 mt.
