SHANGHAI, Sep 19 (SMM) – According to the General Administration of Customs, China imported 10.75 million mt of aluminium ore and concentrates in August, an increase of 24.2% year-on-year. The imports of aluminium ore and concentrates in January-August totalled 8,655 mt, up 18.3% year-on-year.
China imported 200,440 mt of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis in August and 1,477,097 mt from January to August, down 19% and 27% respectively on the year. On the other hand, China exported 540,449 mt of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis in August, up 10.2% YoY. The total export of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis during January-August rose 31.5% from the previous year to 4,701,092 mt.
The exports of alumina increased 1843.1% YoY to 120,000 mt in August, while the total exports of alumina from January to August stood at 720,000 mt, a year-on-year increase of 628.0%.
