SHANGHAI, Sep 14 (SMM) - According to lastest update of General Administration of Customs, China imported 10,000 mt of cobalt-based raw materials in metal content in July, up 42% MoM and 37% YoY.

In detail, China imported 136 mt in metal content (converted to 8% grade) of cobalt ore in July, down 32% MoM and 2% YoY.

Imports of cobalt hydrometallurgy intermediate products were 9,600 mt in metal content (converted to 30% grade), up 48% MoM and 43% YoY.

Imports of unwrought cobalt were 339 mt in metal content in March (converted to 99.8% grade), up 57% MoM and down 20% YoY.

The average import price of cobalt hydrometallurgy intermediate products was $61,405/mt (Co content) in July 2022, down 25% MoM.

Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong are the top three importing regions. And it is worth noting that the imports by Jiangxi surged 243% MoM, the largest increase among all, while the TOP5 importing regions all recorded a MoM growth in import volume.

SMM Daily Review: Lithium Carbonate Spot Prices Continued to Drift Lower on September 14
Today, SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate spot prices continued to drift lower compared with the previous trading day. The lithium carbonate 2701 contract opened higher at 134,500 yuan/mt today. After the open, prices consolidated higher, briefly shooting up to 135,000 yuan/mt in early trading, before encountering selling pressure from bears. Prices then moved sideways around the average price line. In the afternoon, bearish momentum strengthened, and prices gradually drifted lower, accelerating downward after breaking below the average price line to touch a low of 132,000 yuan/mt. In late trading, prices consolidated slightly at low levels, closing near 132,300 yuan/mt, ultimately ending down 1.21% at 132,300 yuan/mt, with open interest increasing by 3,985 lots. In the spot market, downstream buyers continued to buy the dip to stockpile. Some downstream spot order purchase intentions were relatively cautious, anchored around the 130,000 yuan/mt level. Upstream lithium chemical plants continued to hold spot order prices firm, with some maintaining spot order quotes at 160,000 yuan/mt.

[Solid-State: EVE Energy Granted Patent for Halide Solid Electrolyte and All-Solid-State Battery Preparation]
EVE Energy has recently been granted an invention patent titled "A Halide Solid Electrolyte, Its Preparation Method, and a Preparation Method for All-Solid-State Batteries", authorized on September 4, 2026. The patent covers a halide solid electrolyte doped with elements such as Zr, Y, In, Sc, Er or Ga, along with the process for building all-solid-state batteries with it. Halide electrolytes are seen as a key route for all-solid-state batteries thanks to high ionic conductivity and good interface compatibility, and the patent further strengthens EVE's portfolio in solid-state battery technology.
