Global Iron Ore Shipments Jumped 13.5% Week-on-Week to 31.81 Million mt during August 29-September 4

SHANGHAI, Sep 5 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.81 million mt in the week ending September 4, an increase of 13.5% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Sep 5 (SMM) -  SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.81 million mt in the week ending September 4, an increase of 13.5% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia rose 5.3% on a weekly basis to 16.83 million mt, of which 14.64 million mt or 87% went to China, an increase of 17.4%. The shipments from Brazil jumped 26.4% on a weekly basis to 8.99 million mt, of which 2.58 million mt or 28.7% went to China, an increase of 32.3%.


The four major mining companies shipped a combined 23.57 million mt of iron ore last week, an increase of 3.37 million mt from a week earlier.


A total of 26.47 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, up 37.6% week-on-week.
