Global Iron Ore Shipments Fell 5.4% Week-on-Week to 28.03 Million mt during August 22-28

SHANGHAI, Aug 29 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 28.03 million mt in the week ending August 28, a drop of 5.4% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Aug 29 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 28.03 million mt in the week ending August 28, a drop of 5.4% week-on-week.

The shipments from Australia rose 8% on a weekly basis to 15.99 million mt, of which 12.47 million mt or 78% went to China, an increase of 7.8%. The shipments from Brazil fell 5.3% on a weekly basis to 7.11 million mt, of which 1.95 million mt or 27.4% went to China, a decrease of 39.6%.

The four major mining companies shipped a combined 20.2 million mt of iron ore last week, a drop of 1.53 million mt from a week earlier.

A total of 19.24 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 20.2% week-on-week.
