SHANGHAI, Aug 23 (SMM) - According to customs data, the import volume of lead-acid battery in July stood at 322,800, down 0.38% on the month. Total import volume in. January-July stood at 2.3242 million, down 36.81% on the year. The export volume of lead-acid battery in July stood at 20.5295 million, up 1.22%. The total export volume in January-July stood at 129 million, up 21.3% on the year. According to research, storage battery orders increased steadily in July amid the eased pandemic and the good overseas consumption, contributing to the major increase in lead-acid battery exports. However, the ignition lead-acid battery exports declined amid the seasonal low. In addition, limited by the SHFE/LME price ratio and the poor cost advantage, the export volume declined. In this scenario, some export enterprises turned to the domestic market. In August, SHFE/LME lead price ratio expanded, hence the exports of lead-acid battery may increase steadily.

In terms of the imports of lead-acid battery, the import volume declined slightly in July declined slightly, compared to the previous month. However, due to the favourable policies, the automobile output and sales increase by 30% on the year and the imports of ignition lead-acid battery increased by 28.54% on the month.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
