SHANGHAI, Aug 12 (SMM) - According to data from the China Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, the domestic power battery output continued to increase in July to the new record high of 47.2GWh, up 172.2% on the year and 14.4% on the month. Among them, the output of ternary battery in July was 16.6GWh, a decrease of 9.4% from 18.3GWh in the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 107.7%. The LFP battery output in July stood at 30.6GWh, an increase of 7Gwh or 33.5% from 22.9Gwh in the previous month, and up 228% on the year, which contributes the major increase in the total output. To sum up, the proportion of LFP battery output increased by 10% to 64%, and the proportion of ternary batteries fell to 35%.

Although the output increased significantly, the power battery installed capacity was relatively low. Motive battery installed capacity totalled 24.2GWh in July, up 114.2% on the year but down 10.5% on the month. Among them, the installed capacity of ternary battery was 9.8GWh, accounting for 40.7% of total output, up 80.4% on the year and down 15% on the month; LFP battery 14.3GWh, accounting for 59.3%, up 147.2% on the year and down 7% on the month. According to the data, the trend of power battery output and installed capacity in July diverged, but the overall output increased while the overall installed capacity declined. In the follow-up, some manufacturers may purchase for restocking amid the bullish market outlook and the expectation of high lithium prices and tight supply.
