SMM Survey: EMM Plants in South China Are not Highly Responsive to EMM Innovation Alliance’s Call for Output Cuts

SHANGHAI, June 29 (SMM) - In the face of losses, poor sales and falling demand from downstream steel mills, the EMM Innovation Alliance has called on its EMM members across south China and Sichuan Province to take the initiative to close half of their capacity for maintenance in July.

SHANGHAI, June 29 (SMM) - In the face of losses, poor sales and falling demand from downstream steel mills, the EMM Innovation Alliance has called on its EMM members across south China and Sichuan Province to take the initiative to close half of their capacity for maintenance in July.   
SMM survey found that some EMM plants in south China are planning to reduce their capacity by half, but the majority of others currently have no plans to do so as they have just resumed production and their current output is unstable. SMM will keep a close eye on the actual implementation of output reduction in the future.
