The Most Active Silico-manganese Contract Decline while the Spot Prices May Remain Stable

SM2209 contract rose temporarily after opened at 8,270 yuan/mt today and  then declined after hitting the highest point of 9:15, finally closed at 8,242 yuan/mt, with the highest point of 8,342 yuan/mt and the lowest point of 8,236 yuan/mt.

SHANGHAI, June 15 (SMM) - SM2209 contract rose temporarily after opened at 8,270 yuan/mt today and  then declined after hitting the highest point of 9:15, finally closed at 8,242 yuan/mt, with the highest point of 8,342 yuan/mt and the lowest point of 8,236 yuan/mt. Trading volume was 95,164 lots, and open interest decreased by 7,428 lots to 138,264 lots. In terms of fundamentals, the downstream demand was modest and the overall silicon-manganese market was poor. However, plants were less willing to reduce the prices amid the increase of raw material prices and the silicon-manganese prices are expected to remain stable in the short term.
