The mainstream transaction prices of PrNd oxide and alloy both recorded growth, and stood at 940,000-950,000 yuan/mt and 1.14-1.16 million yuan/mt respectively.

SHANGHAI, May 24 (SMM) – The mainstream transaction prices of PrNd oxide and alloy both recorded growth, and stood at 940,000-950,000 yuan/mt and 1.14-1.16 million yuan/mt respectively.

The prices of PrNd oxide continued to rise today, and separation enterprises were also firm to their quotes. Metal factories, however, were less interest in purchasing, resulting in sluggish spot transactions. Magnet enterprises mostly stood on the sidelines, and restocked on rigid demand when PrNd alloy prices moved all the way up.

In terms of middle and heavy rare earths, dysprosium and terbium prices still posted downward potential, with some enterprises intending to seek low sources. Gadolinium oxide and gadolinium iron prices rose, but transactions with high prices were pressured.

The mainstream transaction prices of PrNd oxide and alloy both climbed, and recorded 940,000-950,000 yuan/mt and 1.14-1.16 million yuan/mt respectively.

Dysprosium oxide prices dropped slightly to 2.6-2.62 million yuan/mt, and dysprosium metals prices were 3.4-3.45 million yuan/mt. The dysprosium iron were mainly traded at 2.6-2.62 million yuan/mt.

Terbium oxide was mostly traded at 14.4-14.5 million yuan/mt in the market today, while terbium metal was traded at 18.5-18.7 million yuan/mt.

Gadolinium oxide prices stood mainly at 540,000-550,000 yuan/mt, while gadolinium iron was sold at 520,000-540,000 yuan/mt.

The prices of PrNd products rose today, and separation enterprises also held firm to their prices with few low-priced sources in the market, while transactions with high prices were also scarce. PrNd alloy prices rose along with the oxide, and magnetic material enterprises remained wait-and-see.

Luxembourg-based Frontier Rare Earths today announced it successfully obtained a $20 million investment from South Africa's Industrial Development Corporation (IDS) and signed an offtake agreement with France's Carester. The company has now initiated the final feasibility study for its South African magnet-use rare earth and battery-grade manganese project. Frontier Rare Earths is currently advancing the development of the Zandkopsdrift project in South Africa. The project is expected to achieve an annual capacity of approximately 3,038 mt of Pr-Nd oxide, 114 mt of dysprosium oxide, and 25 mt of terbium oxide over the first 25 years.
