SHANGHAI, May 20 (SMM) - According to customs data, China exported 70,100 mt of aluminium wheels in April 2022, down 10% month on month and 15% year on year.

By country, China exported 29,900 mt to the United States, 9,400 mt to Japan, 6,200 mt to Thailand, 4,800 mt to South Korea and 4,600 mt to Mexico in April, accounting for about 78.39% of the total exports.

The impact of the pandemic subsided, but weak demand from the automotive industry dragged down the production enthusiasm of aluminium wheel companies. Some industry players said that the overall demand for the automotive industry this year was much lower than expected, and the pandemic in east China disrupted the production of and shipment of aluminium wheel enterprises. Even if the epidemic ended in June, demand may not be able to get a significant rebound. Therefore, it is expected that the export volume of aluminium wheels in May-June will drop significantly due to the impact of the pandemic in April-May, and the annual export volume will also be at a relatively low level under the sluggish demand.
