Chile's Copper Production Fell Sharply in February

SHANGHAI, Apr 6 (SMM) - The Cochilco said on Monday that Chile's copper production fell sharply in February.

SHANGHAI, Apr 6 (SMM) - The Cochilco said on Monday that Chile's copper production fell sharply in February. While output from state-owned copper giant Codelco rose 0.7% year-on-year to 123,600 mt, output from other major miners fell sharply. Chilean copper production fell 7.5% to 394,700 mt in February, Cochilco said in a report. Production at the world's largest copper mine, Escondida, controlled by BHP Billiton, fell 14.3% year-on-year to 69,900 mt. Collahuasi, a joint venture between Glencore and Anglo American, produced 46,900 mt of copper, down 11.2% year-on-year.
