SK On plans to set up a square battery trial production line within this year.

Some media said that industry insiders revealed that South Korean lithium TV company SK On has completed the square battery equipment and production line research, the company plans to establish a trial production line within this year, and then put into mass production. Previously, SK On focused on the production of soft-package batteries.

It is reported that SK On is a battery subsidiary spun off by South Korean company SK Innovation in early October 2021. The SK On layout of square batteries also means that the company's battery production capacity began to enter a new level. Compared with the cylindrical battery with mature technology and high degree of standardization, the production of square battery is much more difficult. Although it is difficult to manufacture square batteries, grouping is relatively simple, which will play a key role in the future development of SK On in the field of battery business.
