In 2022, BMW Group will mass-produce and trial-produce 15 pure electric models, covering about 90% of the market segment. (NEUE KLASSE), a 'new generation' model based on the new architecture, will begin trial production in 2024 and will be unveiled in 2025. " On the morning of March 26th, Mr. Gao Le, President and CEO of BMW Group Greater China, revealed this at the international forum of the 2022 China Electric vehicle Club Forum with the theme of "Automotive, Transportation, Energy Transformation and International Cooperation in the carbon Neutralization process".

He further said that BMW plans to deliver a total of 2 million pure electric vehicles by the end of 2025 and expects to deliver about 10 million pure electric vehicles worldwide by 2030.

Mr. Gaulle believes that electrification and digitization have promoted the further integration of the automotive industry and the energy industry, and strengthening cross-industry cooperation is the key to achieving the "double carbon" goal. And only through the joint efforts of the industry, the government and the whole society to create good conditions to achieve this goal, can we really realize the transformation of the automobile industry.

On the other hand, BMW Group regards sustainable development as an important direction of coordinated development with China's environment, and fully supports China to achieve the goal of "double carbon".

He said BMW runs sustainable development throughout the industry chain and has set clear targets for reducing carbon emissions. By 2030, BMW plans to reduce average bicycle life cycle carbon emissions by 40 per cent compared with 2019, including a 20 per cent reduction at the end of the supply chain, an 80 per cent reduction at the production level and a 50 per cent reduction in the use phase.

In addition, the sustainable development of electric vehicles is inseparable from the promotion of charging network, and infrastructure construction needs to be coordinated with the development of automobile architecture.

According to Mr. Gaulle, BMW is actively expanding the construction of charging facilities. Through cooperation with Chinese enterprises, by the end of February this year, the number of public charging piles connected to BMW had reached 380000, including 200000 DC quick charging piles. In 2020, BMW's first "three-in-one charging, photovoltaic and energy storage" energy demonstration station was completed in Beijing, which can use solar energy and recycled batteries to charge customers' vehicles, and the electricity generated can also be used by dealers. Over the next three years, BMW plans to increase the number of similar energy stations to 100.

In order to welcome the arrival of the "new generation" model, BMW Group will systematically develop its global production network and recently put forward a new standard for production network-BMW iFACTORY. Its core is lean, green and digital. Lean, that is, efficiency, precision and a high degree of flexibility, as well as the ability to integrate different drive technologies and vehicle architectures into production; green refers to production through the most advanced technology, minimal resource consumption and circular economy; digitization represents the use of data science and artificial intelligence in production and the integration of the real world and the virtual world in planning and development. In this digital way, BMW employees around the world can achieve virtual connectivity, they can carry out real-time development and planning on the same platform. BMW iFACTORY will be used in all BMW Group plants around the world, including three vehicle plants and one powertrain plant at the Shenyang production base.
