Recently, Baosteel's thick plate production, marketing and research team worked together with the local pipe factory AQPCK, to win a large supply order of 62200 tons of X70 thick plate pipeline steel in Saudi JAFURAH gas field. Trial production has been achieved in February and batch supply will begin in April.
JAFURAH gas field is a super-large unconventional shale gas field in Saudi Arabia. Natural gas production is expected to reach 200m standard cubic feet per day in 2025 and 2 billion standard cubic feet per day in 2030. The construction and operation of the JAFURAH project will make Saudi Arabia one of the largest natural gas producers in the world.
Baosteel thick plate pipeline steel products have been successfully used in long-distance pipeline projects of many oil and gas companies around the world, including Saudi Aramco, Shell, TC ENERGY, ENBRIDGE and so on. Since 2014, Baosteel has exported nearly 1.7 million tons of thick plate pipeline steel, covering high-grade pipeline steel, sea pipe, acid-resistant pipe and so on.
Since the second half of 2021, the heavy plate production, marketing and research team of Baosteel has paid close attention to the project and followed it as a key project in 2022. Project procurement entered the final negotiation stage in mid-January. In the case of the epidemic, through multiple rounds of teleconference, the user finally reached an agreement on several technological deviations left over. The pre-two-furnace trial production contract was issued before the Spring Festival, and thanks to various efforts, it was ready within ten days, caught up with the shipping schedule, and is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia in mid-late March. The production, marketing and research team has docked with the technical personnel of the other party and set up a special team to provide full service. At that time, we will closely monitor the results of user trial production with Baoou Company, and respond to the needs of users as soon as possible to ensure the smooth progress of follow-up mass production.
The export of heavy plate pipeline steel of Baosteel mainly focuses on high value-added products. After the 5m production line successfully obtained the acid-resistant certification of Saudi Aramco thick plate pipeline steel, it broke the pattern that this field was basically monopolized by European, Japanese and Korean steel mills. Next, the production, marketing and research team strives to obtain further orders to realize the batch supply of Saudi Aramco acid-resistant pipeline steel.
