The subsidy of up to 6000 euros applies to pure electric vehicles with a price of no more than 35000 euros, including a 2000 euro reward for scrapping more polluting internal combustion engine vehicles. Consumers who buy plug-in hybrid cars that cost no more than 45000 euros will be able to receive subsidies of up to 2500 euros. In addition, consumers who scrap old internal combustion engine cars and buy cars that meet recent Euro 6 emission standards can receive subsidies of up to 1250 euros.

In February, new car sales in Italy fell 23 per cent year-on-year to 110869, with only a few brands improving, including Dacia (up 14 per cent) and Mini (up 17 per cent). And as the previous subsidy program ended, Italian electric car sales fell 8.2% in the month, with market share falling to 2.8% from 3.4% in January.
