2. The rising upstream raw materials have led to a rise in the price of power batteries: taking lithium carbonate, the main material in power batteries, as an example, the price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in 2021 increased by an average of about 22000 yuan per ton per month last year. The fastest increase was in December 2021, with an increase of 71000 yuan per ton. It is important to know that the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate is only 57000 yuan / ton at the beginning of 2021! As of March 10 this year, the average price of the latest battery-grade lithium carbonate has risen to 501000 yuan / ton.

At the same time, the price of cobalt has risen from less than 300000 yuan / ton at the beginning of 2021 to 500000 yuan / ton now. There are power batteries to use diaphragms, positive and negative materials, electrolytes and other battery-related raw materials have different ranges of price increases, the increase is basically more than 100%!

Tesla produced 93422 new cars in 2021, of which 24380 were Model S and X, and 906032 were all Model 3 and Y, with an annual delivery of 936000.

EIA Approval Sought for $500M Battery Recycling Plant in Lingang, China

Recently, the management committee and local government released the public notice on the proposed approval of the EIA report for the new energy vehicle power battery material processing, battery cascade utilization and resource center project (re-filed). The project involves a total investment of RMB 500 million, located in the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone. It consists of one dismantling & cascade utilization production line, one black mass preparation (cell crushing) production line, and one lithium carbonate production line. Upon completion, it will achieve Phase I annual dismantling capacity of 60,000 tons of power LIB packs (including 20,000 tons of cell crushing and 10,000 tons of cell cascade utilization), and Phase II annual output of 3,973 tons of lithium carbonate.
