Whether it is the rumored sales target of 1.2 million vehicles this year, or BYD's official announcement that it will "serve 3 million new energy vehicle users", more products and greater production capacity, have become the cornerstone of BYD's huge plan.
According to KuaiBao, a production and marketing released by BYD a few days ago, due to factors such as the Spring Festival holiday, BYD sold 88283 new energy vehicles in February, an increase of 752.56 percent over the same period last year. In the first two months, sales of new energy vehicles totaled 181451, up 494.28 percent over the same period last year. Despite outperforming the market, the target completion rate for the first two months of this year is only 12 per cent based on BYD's sales target of 1.5 million new energy vehicles this year, and 15 per cent based on another version of 1.2 million vehicles circulated in the industry.
Capacity is the biggest constraint on BYD's low completion rate, in addition to the official Spring Festival factors. At present, BYD's four major production bases in Shenzhen, Xi'an, Changsha and Changzhou have been put into production, and according to the reporter's understanding, the previously announced new production bases in Fuzhou, Hefei, Shenshan, Zhengzhou, Jinan and Xiangyang are stepping up construction in preparation for production.
Among the above-mentioned bases under construction at the same time, the Fuzhou production base, which was first put into production or transformed by Mahayana, has a capacity of about 200000 vehicles. The BYD Fuzhou New Energy Automobile Industry Park has been working overtime since September 2021, and the production base is expected to enter the trial production phase in March this year, according to the local government website.
"Fuzhou Branch must speed up the construction progress to ensure that the whole vehicle will be offline on April 15 this year." Zhou Zhibin, director of government affairs in BYD's president's office, said.
In addition to the Fuzhou base, the BYD Hefei production base, which has the production capacity of 400000 new energy vehicles' core spare parts, also has a timetable for the whole vehicle to go offline. Zhou Hu, BYD's automobile project manager in Hefei, recently revealed that "BYD's Hefei plant plans to take its first vehicle off the line in June this year, and the model it produces is the BYD Qin PLUS DM-i." Accordingly, it will take only 10 months for the production base of BYD in Hefei to start construction at the end of August in 2021 to get the first vehicle off the line in June.
The recruitment notice at BYD's Jinan base revealed the progress of BYD's related projects, which were settled in Jinan in August last year. According to the recruitment information, the project located in the Air Economic Zone of Jinan High-tech Zone is mainly responsible for battery manufacturing and is expected to be put into production in the second half of this year, while the Jinan start-up zone project, which is mainly responsible for vehicle manufacturing, is expected to be put into production by the end of this year.
The latest development of BYD's Xiangyang base is also quite "Extreme Speed". On January 27 this year, Xiangyang Fudi battery was established; on February 27, BYD Industrial Park held the "five certificates" ceremony. The head of the BYD Fudi battery factory in Xiangyang said that Xiangyang Fudi will open its first production line by the end of December. "the whole project will take only 10 months from the official start to the completion of the project," said the head of the BYD Fudi battery factory in Xiangyang.
At the product level, "Dynasty net" is still one of the main brands of BYD, and "Ocean Network" has also expanded Synchronize. It is reported that the "Marine Life Series" will launch seagulls, seals, sea lions and other models in 2022, while the "warship series" will launch destroyers 07, cruisers 05, cruisers 07, landing ships 07 and other models. Among them, a recently released model preparation notice letter from BYD to suppliers shows that BYD will launch a new car, code-named SK2, or frigate 07, which will go on sale in the first half of this year, with a total planned production of more than 60,000 vehicles for the whole year, while the latest news indicates that the destroyer 05, which has been officially announced before, may be officially launched in mid-March.
The first model of the high-end brand will be positioned as a hardline off-road SUV. It is initially planned to launch the brand in June and the new car of Chengdu car owners will be unveiled in September. " According to BYD insiders, its high-end brand MPV model is also under planning.
According to the latest official statement that the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles will reach 3 million by the end of 2022, according to previous data, BYD's sales target of new energy vehicles in 2022 will exceed 1.5 million. In the face of such a "crazy" goal, expanding production and promoting innovation have become the best choice for BYD.
