China’s NDRC is Confident about Ensuring Safe and Reliable Energy Supply in Response to Doubts on Whether Coal Shortages and Power Rationing will Occur

SHANGHAI, Mar 7 (MM) - Lian Weiliang, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said on March 7 that, despite the increasingly severe challenges, China has the capabilities, confidence and methods to ensure a safe and reliable supply of energy. China focus on four major aspects to ensure energy security and supply: 1. increasing capacity; 2. strengthening reserves; 3. ensuring stable supply and price stability; 4. resolutely ensuring energy consumption for people's livelihood. Through a safer and more reliable supply security plan, China will achieve energy security under various circumstances, and will not impose power rationing or natural gas rationing in non-extreme situations, and will limit the use of power or natural gas in extreme situations, but will not cut off the supply.
