SHANGHAI, Feb 16 - According to the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the research team of the institute's scientific expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau discovered a super-large lithium mine in the Qiongjiagang area of the Himalayas. The lithium mine is "expected to become the third largest lithium mine in China after Bailong Mountain in southern Xinjiang and Meika in western Sichuan", and is "the first pegmatite lithium mine with industrial value in the Himalayas region". The related results and findings were published in the Journal of Petrology. Qin Kezhang, head of the scientific research team, said that the lithium oxide in the ore can reach 1.01 million mt. "This figure is calculated based on the ore volume and lithium oxide conservatively." "The Qiongjiagang lithium mine has great mining conditions."
