Among them, Yiwei Lithium Energy and Bic batteries are actively building factories for production. On the other hand, overseas battery manufacturers are also picking up the pace. LG Energy confirmed that it is developing 4680 batteries and plans to mass-produce them in a new production line at Wucang Plant.

According to BusinessKorea, Ningde Times, Yiwei Lithium Energy and Bick batteries will be put into mass production of Tesla 4680 batteries this year. Among them, Yiwei Lithium Energy and Bic batteries are actively building factories for production.

On the other hand, overseas battery manufacturers are also picking up the pace. LG Energy confirmed that it is developing 4680 batteries and plans to mass produce at a new production line in Wucang Plant. Panasonic also released a specific time point of mass production for the first time at the end of last month, and the company plans to start small batch production this year, after confirming the safety and efficiency of the technology, mass production will be put into mass production in 2023.

Tesla, who took the lead in launching the 4680 battery, still leads the mass production delivery stage.

The company revealed in a recent conference call that the Model Y produced by the Texas superfactory will carry 4680 batteries, and delivery will begin at the end of this quarter. Soochow Securities expects that the Model Y will be mainly equipped with Tesla's self-made batteries in the first half of 2022.

Drew Baglino, senior vice president of Tesla Powertrain, added that 4680 batteries will not be a limiting factor in production in 2022-Tesla's own capacity has not yet been confirmed, but the supplier is already speeding up the 4680 battery process and will supply Tesla.

As the Model Y mass production delivery schedule approaches, the Soochow Securities report predicts that 4068 batteries are expected to enter the industrialization stage in 2022.

From a technical point of view, 4680 battery has many advantages, more suitable for high nickel, silicon-carbon system, and more standardized production, lower cost.

Compared with the 2170 battery, the energy of the 4680 battery is increased by 5 times and the mileage of the 4680 battery is increased by 16%. Among the required materials, the number of batteries in the battery pack decreased, the proportion of metal shell decreased, the proportion of positive and negative electrodes increased, and the battery capacity increased.

Analysts believe that 4680 batteries will drive various material requirements for high nickel positive electrodes, silicon-carbon negative electrodes, carbon nanotube conductive agents, large cylindrical structures and new lithium salts; at the same time, the equipment performance requirements of 4680 batteries will also be greatly improved. Huaxi Securities believes that the advantages of laser cutting / welding process appear.

In the A-share industry chain, materials, Fangyuan shares and Zhongwei shares are mainly engaged in cathode material precursors, both of which have entered Tesla's supply chain; China Baoan, Tiannai Technology and Tianci Materials have laid out 4680 battery materials one after another.

In terms of equipment, Yinghe Technology has begun to supply customers with key equipment to meet the production of 4680 batteries in batches; Haimu's high-speed laser machine is mainly used for cutting the polar ears of lithium batteries; and the 4680 prototype of Hangke Technology has been completed and delivered to customers.

In terms of spare parts, Kodali has laid out 4680 battery structures.
