SHANGHAI, Feb 9 (SMM) - According to customs data, China's aluminium foil exports from January to December 2021 totalled 1.34 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 7.73%, hitting a record high. The previous high was 1.30 million mt in 2019.

The annual export value of aluminium foil also reached a new high of $5.14 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.2%. The previous highest level was $4.30 billion in 2018.

In 2021, the export value of aluminium foil accounted for 14.8% of the total export value of China's aluminium products.

2021 witnessed multiple difficulties including the slowdown of China's economic growth, sluggish market demand, frequent pandemic and natural disasters, sharp rise in raw materials such as aluminium ingots, dual control of energy consumption, frequent power cuts, supply chain disorder, and shipping prices, poor export delivery and increasing anti-dumping cases.

China could realise the sharp increase in the aluminium foil exports, thanks to the perseverance and hard work of aluminium foil companies in a complex environment. It shows the continuous improvement of China's aluminium foil processing and manufacturing capabilities, enhanced supply capabilities, and the comprehensive competitive advantages and development tenacity of the industry.
