PCIe Retimer chip mainly solves the problems of irregular signal timing, high loss and poor integrity when the data center server transmits data at high speed and long distance. Therefore, the industry expects that with the continuous improvement of the transmission rate, the demand for, PCIe Retimer chips will be more and more.

As the mainstream server CPU supporting PCIe 4.0 was launched in the second quarter of 2021, PCIe 4.0 Retimer chips have just begun to enter the market. It is generally expected that with the gradual improvement of the ecology of PCIe 4.0 in 2022, the penetration of PCIe 4.0 Retimer chips will increase significantly. At the same time, with the launch of CPU, a mainstream server that supports PCIe5.0 in 2022, PCIe5.0 Retimer chips are expected to be gradually introduced into the market.

In addition, Lan Qi Technology said that at present, there are only three companies in the world that can provide PCIe 4.0 Retimer chips. in addition to Lan Qi, the other two are Perry Technology and Asteralabs.

It is worth mentioning that the AI chip developed by the company is a new computing platform for AI reasoning application in big data scenario, which adopts near-memory computing architecture. The product integrates CXL high-speed interface technology, DDR memory control technology and related technologies of AI computing engine. The main goal is to achieve a balance between high computing power and data throughput, and to provide a more efficient and cost-effective solution for big data's reasoning applications. The company has accumulated some technology in related fields, in which the PCIe5.0Retimer chip being developed can realize PCIe/CXL dual-mode work according to the system requirements. The company will pay close attention to the technological developments and opportunities at the forefront of the industry and lay out related products in a timely manner.

For the future memory interface chip, Lan Qi Technology said that the memory interface chip is mainly used in server-related memory modules. In order to cope with the continuous improvement of the transmission rate, memory modules that do not require high signal buffering may also increase the demand for corresponding buffer chips. The industry is discussing that in the middle and later stages of DDR5, it is planned to add a clock driver chip (CKD), on the UDIMM and SODIMM of PC and notebook computers to buffer and redrive the clock signal of the memory module, so as to improve the signal integrity and reliability of the clock signal. At present, JEDEC (solid State Technology Association) is working on the standards of the corresponding products.

It is reported that Lan Qi Technology has announced the mass production of DDR5 memory interface chips and memory module supporting chips in October 2021, which shows that the quantity of related products is continuous and large-scale. However, as DDR5 is a brand new product, the rhythm of related chips needs to be further observed.
