19GWh! Honeywell signs Battery long order Agreement with FREYR Battery

[19GWh! Honeywell signed Battery order Agreement with FREYR Battery] recently, according to foreign media, Honeywell and Norwegian lithium-ion battery manufacturing start-up company FREYR Battery reached a major supply deal and energy storage system (ESS) technology and component exchange. FREYR is building a super factory in Europe, starting with the first 2GWh plant currently built in Mo i Rana, Norway, with a goal of reaching 83GWh's annual capacity by 2028 and a medium-term target of 43GWh by 2025.

Recently, according to foreign media reports, Honeywell and Norwegian lithium-ion battery manufacturing startup FREYR Battery reached a major supply deal and energy storage system (ESS) technology and component exchange.

FREYR is building a super factory in Europe, starting with the first 2GWh plant currently built in Mo i Rana, Norway, with a goal of reaching 83GWh's annual capacity by 2028 and a medium-term target of 43GWh by 2025.

Under the agreement announced by the two companies today, FREYR will take advantage of Honeywell's related technology products such as industrial software, integrated automation, field instrumentation and safety integration solutions in its manufacturing process, depending on feasibility. Meanwhile, Honeywell will buy 19GWh FREYR batteries between 2023 and 2030.

These batteries will be widely used in ESS, mainly for commercial and industrial markets. This partnership combines FREYR's next-generation battery solutions with Honeywell's 20 years of lithium-ion battery industry expertise.

Last June, Honeywell launched its own battery energy storage system (BESS) platform and partnered with sustainable infrastructure solutions company Alturus to provide free energy storage-as-a-service products for the Centri industry.

Other relevant technologies owned by the company include fire safety systems sold through its Xtralis brand and its own flow batteries, which were launched in October and will begin field testing this year.

Ujjwal Kumar, president and CEO of Honeywell process Solutions, an industrial automation control company, said: "the large-scale introduction of decarbonized storage solutions in multiple geographic markets is critical to our sustainability efforts, which in turn helps to make renewable energy more accessible and efficient." When announcing the agreement with FREYR, the company was also responsible for the deployment and maintenance of battery storage.
