






According to foreign media reports, US electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to launch four models, including Model X, Model Y, Model 3 and Model S, in the Turkish market this year.
Tesla has taken measures to target the local market. The company appointed Kemal Ge ç er as chief executive of its local subsidiary Tesla Motorlar Portugal and increased its local capital investment from 710000 Turkish lira to 50 million lira. Ge ç er previously served as the Turkish-Iraqi representative of Lufthansa.
Tesla Motorlari will be responsible for selling the four models in the Turkish market. Tesla's goal is to launch these models to Turkish consumers as soon as possible and announce their prices.
Meanwhile, Tesla's website shows that the company may set up supercharging stations in 10 Turkish provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, "zmir, Bursa, Edirne, Bal" kesir, Antalya, Aidin, Kenia and Sacaya, northwest of Hendak. Charging stations will be built in places with convenient transportation, such as highways and shopping malls.
Tesla will also set up a service and maintenance team for customers in Turkey, as well as a network of sales offices and showrooms, which are expected to create thousands of local jobs, and Tesla will soon post job advertisements on its website.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited Turkey in 2017 and met with President Recep Tayyip Erdo an. Last December, Erdo coach an and Musk also held a video conference. During the conversation, Musk said that he is looking forward to carrying out many projects in Turkey in the future. The President of Turkey and Musk discussed cooperation between Turkish public and private sector institutions and Tesla in various fields, particularly in satellite and space technology.
According to data from Turkish car dealers, a total of 2846 electric vehicles were sold in Turkey in 2021, an increase of 237 per cent over the previous year. In December 2021 alone, sales of electric vehicles in Turkey reached 431, up 56% from a year earlier.
