[green manufacturing has become an important means to improve quality and efficiency of rare earth industry] in recent years, through unremitting efforts, Baotou rare earth industry in Inner Mongolia has developed a green development road to solve the bottleneck of resources and environment with innovative development mode. it has achieved a win-win situation of both economic and environmental benefits. In 2021, the output value of Baotou rare earth industry reached 38 billion yuan, an increase of 74% over the same period last year, the local conversion rate of rare earth raw materials increased from 50% to nearly 80%, and the proportion of rare earth functional materials and applications increased from 37% to 53%.

In the process of the development of China's rare earth industry, the trend of transformation from traditional industrialization to new industrialization has been very obvious, and green manufacturing has become an important means to improve the quality and efficiency of rare earth industry. In recent years, some cities and rare earth enterprises where rare earth resources are concentrated are strongly promoting the development of green manufacturing, blowing a "green" wind for the rare earth industry.

In recent years, through unremitting efforts, the rare earth industry in Baotou, Inner Mongolia has developed a green development road to break the bottleneck of resources and environment with an innovative development model, realizing a win-win situation of both economic and environmental benefits.

For a long time, Baotou has been a city famous for its raw material industry and rich in mineral resources. After decades of development, Baotou rare earth industry has realized a great-leap-forward transformation from "digging and selling soil" to "turning land into gold". To explore a new way of high-quality development with ecological priority and green development as the guidance has become a new direction for the development of Baotou rare earth industry.

For example, since 2020, Baotou rare earth industry has integrated the high-end scientific research strength of the industry, actively paved the "fast track" of industrial development based on "green", promoted the green development and efficient utilization of rare earth resources, and made every effort to build rare earth industry clusters with international influence.

The development practice of Baotou rare earth industry has proved that the green development of rare earth industry should take science and technology as the forerunner to promote the high-end development of the industry. How to make a great breakthrough in the field of key core technology is not only an important instruction put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping to change the traditional mode of 'digging and selling soil' relying on resources, but also an inevitable choice for the high-quality development of the rare earth industry. it is also an urgent problem to be solved to realize the innovation drive of rare earth industry.

The Department of Energy Saving and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology once publicized 43 technical specifications in the Circular of the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on the Construction of Green Manufacturing system, requiring enterprises to give full play to the supporting role of green manufacturing service platform. we will enhance the ability of professional and market-oriented public services in green manufacturing, and promote the formation of a market-oriented mechanism. To build the green manufacturing system into a demonstration benchmark for the green transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry and a leading force to participate in international competition.

Green development is the inevitable requirement of building a modern economic system and the fundamental strategy to improve the utilization rate of resources. And innovation is not only a kind of idea, a kind of method, but also a kind of spirit. The rare earth industry should adhere to the drive of scientific and technological innovation, vigorously promote the accelerated development of green manufacturing, and create more demonstration projects such as green parks, green supply chains and green factories in the industry.

In the process of the development of an industry, products play an important role. It can be said that the product is the lifeline of the industry, and the quality of the product can also reflect the mode of production and concept of the enterprise. Of course, under the general trend of green manufacturing, many rare earth enterprises begin to change to green and low-carbon production and management, and the products produced in this mode naturally reflect the product concept of green and environmental protection.

It can be said that green manufacturing is expected to be available in the development of rare earth industry. The key is that rare earth enterprises are the main body of economic development and should enhance the initiative of green manufacturing. Only by actively transforming and upgrading the rare earth industry and carrying out green manufacturing, can rare earth products meet the needs of green consumption and enter the broad consumer market.
