On January 12, 2022, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (Battery Alliance) released monthly data on power batteries in December 2021. Ningde era, BYD, China New Airlines, Guoxuan Hi-Tech and LG New Energy are the top five respectively. In December, China's power battery output totaled 31.6 GWH, an increase of 109.0% over the same period last year and 12.0% month-on-month growth. Of these, the output of ternary batteries was 11.4 GWH, up 34.6% from the same period last year and 10.1% from the previous year; and the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 20.1 GWH, up 207.7% from the same period last year, up 12.7% from the previous year.

From January to December of 2021, the output of power batteries in China totaled 219.7 GWH, an increase of 163.4 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the output of ternary batteries totaled 93.9GWh, accounting for 42.7 percent of the total output, an increase of 93.6 percent over the same period last year; and the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries totaled 125.4 GWH, accounting for 57.1 percent of the total output, an increase of 262.9 percent over the same period last year. The number of cars loaded with power batteries in China in December was 26.2 GWH, an increase of 102.4 percent over the same period last year and 25.9 percent higher than the previous month. Among them, the total loading of ternary batteries was 11.1GWh, an increase of 84.7 percent over the same period last year and 19.7 percent from the previous year; lithium iron phosphate batteries totaled 15.1 GWhs, up 118.5 percent from the same period last year and 30.1 percent from the previous year. According to statistics, in the first 12 months of last year, the installed capacity of power batteries in China totaled 154.5 GWH, an increase of 142.8% over the same period last year. Among them, the total loading of ternary batteries was 74.3 GWH, accounting for 48.1% of the total loading, an increase of 91.3% over the same period last year; and the total loading of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 79.8 GWH, accounting for 51.7% of the total loading, an increase of 227.4% over the same period last year.
Last year, a total of 58 power battery enterprises were installed in China's new energy vehicle market, 13 fewer than the same period last year. The top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery enterprises installed 114.6GWh, 128.9GWh and 142.5GWH respectively, accounting for 74.2%, 83.4% and 92.3% of the total, respectively. In December 2021, the average installed electricity per car of new energy vehicles in China by type of vehicle was 48.8 kWhh, down 8.6% from the same period last year. Among them, the average carrying capacity of pure electric passenger cars and pure electric buses is 48.6kWh/ and 197.7kWh/ respectively, up 6.8 per cent and down 10.4 per cent respectively over the same period last year. In December 2021, the energy density of pure electric passenger vehicle system in China is equal to that of 160Wh/kg and 160Wh/kg and above, which are 29.6% and 30.2% respectively. The proportion of production of 125 (inclusive)-140Wh/kg models rose to 22.8% from 18.7% in November to 17.4% in models below 125 Whxplash kg, which remained stable compared with November.
On the whole, the total installed capacity of power batteries in China still has a momentum of rapid growth, which proves the improvement of the comprehensive competitiveness of domestic battery enterprises and the trust of suppliers and consumers.
