The domestic power battery output totalled 28.2 GWh in November, up 122% on the year and 12% on the month.

SHANGHAI, Jan 12 (SMM) - The domestic power battery output totalled 28.2 GWh in November, up 122% on the year and 12% on the month. The year-end rush to produce boosted the demand for power batteries. The domestic battery output increased faster and hit a record high of 28.2 GWh in November. The current output of NMC and lithium iron phosphate battery is growing rapidly. The output of NMC batteries output stood at 10.4 GWh in November, a month-on-month increase of 13% and an increase of 43% on the year, while the monthly output of lithium iron phosphate batteries stood at 17.8 GWh, a month-on-month increase of 12%, and a surge of 230% year on year. The overall market shares have not changed significantly as there was no significant difference between their growth rates.

The total installed capacity in November was 20.8 GWh, up 35% on the month and 121% on the year. The installed capacity rebounded due to the busy production at end-users at the end of the year after a poor performance in October. The installed capacity of NMC battery stood at 9.2 GWh in November, an increase of 33% month on month and an increase of 64% on the year. And that of lithium iron phosphate battery surged 37% on the month and 209% on the year to 11.6 GWh.

[SMM Analysis] Chinese New Year Off-Season “Reset,” Sodium-Ion Battery Industry Chain Recovery Poised to Begin
February 2026 coincided with the Chinese New Year holiday. Affected by holiday factors, production pace across core segments of China’s sodium-ion battery industry generally slowed, showing an “off-season reset” trend. From cathodes, anodes, and electrolyte to battery cells and end-users, production across all segments declined MoM to varying degrees, while YoY still maintained a certain degree of growth resilience.
