Zijin Mining built the largest Copper Mine in China

After a year and a half, China's largest world-class copper project was completed and put into operation in Tibet.

In June 2020, Zijin Mining acquired a 50.1% stake in Julong Copper for about 3.88 billion yuan, leading the development of the world-class porphyry copper deposit with the largest proven copper resources in China. The project has three mining rights: Qulong Copper polymetallic Mine, Rongmucola Copper Mine and Zhibula Copper polymetallic Mine, which are distributed in the snowy plateau with an altitude of 4000-5400 meters above sea level. It has three major characteristics: large reserves, low grade and high altitude. The amount of copper metal on record is 10.72 million tons. Associated molybdenum metal 570000 tons; Relying on the exploration and development advantages of Zijin Mining's low-grade resources, the mine has a large number of low-grade copper resources with a grade of about 0.2%, and the total resources will exceed 20 million tons.

Before Zijin Mining joined, the construction of the mine had been suspended for more than a year, facing long-term shutdown, complicated problems left over by history, and the test of people's will and management ability under the harsh environment of ice and snow, high cold, low pressure and low oxygen. For large-scale plateau construction projects with a total investment of more than 15 billion yuan, time is the greatest cost and benefit. In the course of construction, Zijin Mining Dragon team carried forward the spirit of old Tibet and the Zijin spirit of "hard work, pioneering and innovation". The headquarters of the dragon is located from the relatively comfortable Julong Building in Lhasa in Mozhu Gongka County, where the elevation is higher and more difficult, and the on-site headquarters is located at the concentrator in the Qulong mining area with the highest elevation.

After the first phase of the project is put into production, coupled with the output of Zhibula Copper Mine, Julong Copper is expected to produce 12-130000 tons of copper in 2022.

As a key investment project in Tibet and a key project in Fujian Province to aid Tibet, the new dragon has brought new positive changes to the local economy, society and people's livelihood. centering on promoting the work of invigorating the border and enriching the people and national unity, only in 2021, Julong Copper spent about 120 million yuan on social donation, industrial support, relocation compensation and other aspects of social donation, industrial support and relocation compensation in Jiama Township, Mozhugongka County, and recruited about 780 local Tibetan college students and employees. During the construction of the project, Julong Copper invested 116 million yuan to complete the ecological restoration area of 1.72 million square meters, planted 170000 trees and shrubs, carried out a survey of biodiversity in the mining area, and constantly optimized the design of the project. minimize disturbance to wild animals and plants and their habitats.

Today's dragon copper industry alpine green grass, plateau willow, Tibetan green poplar, seabuckthorn, Gesang flower, rape flower alternately into the mirror, the green picture is gradually stretched out. In the future, Julong Copper will make every effort to promote the construction of green mines and garden mines, strive to create an example of ecological restoration of plateau mines, and explore a green mining development road of compatibility, organic integration and mutual promotion between mine production and construction and ecological and environmental protection.

At present, Julong Copper is carrying out the overall planning of mine development, focusing on the comprehensive development and utilization of low-grade resources, and plans to implement the second and third phases of the project in stages. If the project is approved by the relevant government departments, it is expected to achieve an annual mining and dressing capacity of about 200 million tons and an annual output of more than 600000 tons of copper and metal, making it a high-level green mine with the largest mining scale in the world.
