National Bureau of Statistics: ferrous metals prices down 2.2%, non-ferrous metals and wire prices down 1.4%

For the whole of 2021, the ex-factory prices of industrial producers increased by 8.1% over the previous year, and the purchase prices of industrial producers rose by 11.0%. Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of ferrous materials fell by 2.2%, and the prices of non-ferrous materials and wires fell by 1.4%.

In December 2021, factory gate prices across the country rose 10.3 per cent from a year earlier, down 1.2 per cent from a month earlier, while purchase prices for industrial producers rose 14.2 per cent from a year earlier, down 1.3 per cent from a month earlier. For the whole of 2021, the ex-factory prices of industrial producers increased by 8.1% over the previous year, and the purchase prices of industrial producers rose by 11.0%.

I. year-on-year changes in industrial producer prices

Among the ex-factory prices of industrial producers, the prices of means of production rose by 13.4%, affecting the overall level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers by about 10.07 percentage points. Of this total, the prices of the extractive industry, raw materials and processing industries rose by 44.2%, 19.7% and 8.2% respectively. The price of means of subsistence rose by 1.0%, affecting the overall level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers by about 0.25 percentage points. Of this total, the prices of food and general daily necessities both rose 1.4 per cent, the prices of clothing rose 1.0 per cent, and the prices of consumer durables rose 0.4 per cent.

Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of fuel power, chemical raw materials, non-ferrous metals and wires rose by 35.5%, 20.5%, 19.0% and 14.0% respectively.

II. Month-on-month changes in industrial producer prices

Among the ex-factory prices of industrial producers, the prices of means of production fell by 1.6%, affecting the overall level of ex-factory prices of industrial producers by about 1.21 percentage points. Of this total, the prices of the extractive industry, raw materials and processing industries fell by 6.8%, 1.7% and 0.9% respectively. The price of the means of subsistence is flat. Of this total, the prices of food and general daily necessities both rose 0.1 per cent, the prices of clothing decreased by 0.3 per cent, and the prices of consumer durables fell by 0.1 per cent.

Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of fuel power, ferrous metals, chemical raw materials and non-ferrous metals and wires fell by 3.8%, 2.2%, 1.7% and 1.4% respectively.
