Nickel Downstream Composite PMI in December Stands in the Contraction Range

The final composite PMI for the nickel downstream industries came in at 49.59 in December 2021, remaining in contraction.

SHANGHAI, Jan 6 (SMM) - The final composite PMI for the nickel downstream industries came in at 49.59 in December 2021, remaining in contraction.

The composite index for production in December fell markedly on the month to 49.02, and the readings for stainless steel, battery and electroplating sectors were 48.83, 50.29 and 48.88 respectively. The production indexes in battery and electroplating sectors increased slightly.

The new orders index in December stood at 49.97, and it stood in contraction for all sectors except for the alloy and battery. The new orders signed in the market fell significantly approaching the end of 2021.

The composite index for purchasing prices stood at 50.81 in December 2021. The prices of nickel sulphate basically remained stable with small fluctuations. As such, the composite index for purchasing prices was largely unchanged.
