On December 28, the opening ceremony of Suzhou Xi Lian Optical Core Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. was held in Zhangjiagang Economic Development District (Yangshe Town).

According to Suzhou Daily, the Xi Lian Optical Core Project lasted 14 months, successfully acquired the industry-leading Silicon Optic New Germany Sicoya Company, and set up the first Chinese silicon integrated circuit leader with full intellectual property rights in Zhangjiagang Economic Development District (Yangshe Town), and built the first silicon optical chip and closed test production line in China. The project has a total investment of 2 billion yuan and is scheduled to be completed and put into production in the second quarter of 2022.

Sicoya, founded in January 2015, is a German silicon technology company. The main business is R & D, manufacturing and sales of silicon optical chips, optoelectronic chips, optoelectronic devices and optical modules. The silicon optical chip for telecommunications and data communication developed by Sicoya highly integrates optical chip and electrical chip into one chip, which significantly increases the transmission rate and greatly reduces the cost, power and size.

At present, the 100G optical module of Xi Lian optical core has been mass produced on a large scale, and the 400G optical engine and optical module have entered the stage of sample delivery certification. The company will continue to increase its R & D investment and set up a global R & D center and product manufacturing base for silicon technology.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
