On December 20, the world's first fourth-generation high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power project, the Shidao Bay high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plant demonstration project, was connected to the grid for the first time, marking that China has become one of the few countries in the world to master the fourth generation nuclear energy technology. As the only supplier of nickel-based alloys for the demonstration project of Shidao Bay high-temperature gas-cooled reactor, Baowu Special Metallurgy provides more than 50 nickel-based alloy products of more than 50 specifications for the demonstration project, which avoids the control of core key materials and provides a strong support for the independent manufacture of nuclear island main equipment in the demonstration project.

The high-temperature gas-cooled reactor is the most promising type of reactor with inherent safety of the fourth generation, and the steam generator is one of the most critical equipment in the nuclear power system of the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. It is called "the lung of nuclear power" in the industry, and it is the symbol of the fourth generation nuclear power. The technical content of the material is high, it is difficult to manufacture, the quality requirement is strict, and the long-term working temperature of the parts in the entrance chamber of the steam generator and the heat exchanger assembly is as high as 750 ℃. Stringent requirements are put forward for the comprehensive properties of materials.

Baowu Special Metallurgical has been carrying out the research and development of nickel-based alloy for the heat exchange unit of steam generator since 2012, in cooperation with Tsinghua University and China Nuclear Energy, focusing on the core technical requirements such as high temperature and long-term performance, has carried out comprehensive and in-depth research work, accumulated a large number of basic data, started with composition design, and aimed at high-performance products. The optimum composition system, hot working diagram and the influence mechanism of composition on the properties of nuclear grade corrosion resistant alloy were established to guide production, and several key manufacturing technologies such as large ingot segregation and difficult deformation of nuclear grade nickel base alloy products were broken successively to fill the blank of high temperature and long term basic data of nickel base alloy for high temperature gas cooled reactor.

As the exclusive supplier of nickel-based alloy for steam generator in the demonstration project of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor, Baowu Special Metallurgy will continue to work with Tsinghua University, China Nuclear Energy and Huaneng to further develop high-quality core key materials for industrial and commercial high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. to make greater contributions to optimizing China's energy structure, achieving the goal of "double carbon", and building itself into a world nuclear industry power.
