Renesas announced on December 21 that it had successfully completed its acquisition of Celeno Communications ("Celeno", a leading provider of intelligent innovative Wi-Fi solutions, as of December 20, 2021. The transaction is worth approximately $315 million and will be paid gradually in cash after some of the nodes specified in the final agreement.

Headquartered in Israel, Celeno provides a wide range of wireless communications solutions, including advanced Wi-Fi chipsets and software solutions, for high-performance home networks, smart building, enterprise and industrial markets. Its industry's most compact Wi-Fi 6 and 6e chipsets provide superior Wi-Fi network performance and increased security while achieving low latency and low power consumption. With the addition of Celeno's industry-leading Wi-Fi technology and software expertise, Renesas will significantly enhance its connectivity portfolio. In addition, these technologies, combined with Renesa's MCU/MPU/SoC processor, wireless IC, sensor and power management technologies, create comprehensive end-to-end connectivity solutions for customers and access points for the Internet of things, infrastructure, industrial and automotive applications.

The transaction has now been completed and Celeno has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics. The addition of Celeno's design center in Israel and the arrival of R & D personnel will further strengthen Renesa's global engineering and software development talent base, enabling Renesas to bring more coherent and expanded services to customers around the world.
