According to an SMM survey, the copper semis processing plants currently under construction will increase capacity by 1.493 million mt, including 920,000 mt of copper rod capacity, 348,000 mt of copper foil capacity and 225,000 mt of other copper semis capacity.

SHANGHAI, Dec17 (SMM) - According to an SMM survey, the copper semis processing plants currently under construction will increase capacity by 1.493 million mt, including 920,000 mt of copper rod capacity, 348,000 mt of copper foil capacity and 225,000 mt of other copper semis capacity.

Although most of the raw materials of copper foil are copper rod, the expansion of copper rod capacity is still far greater than that of consumption.

In the future, the competition in the south China copper rod market will become fiercer. And the operating rates are expected to decline further.
