A New Lithium-Ion Battery Project with Capacity of 36 GWh/year Is Launched in Anhui

SHANGHAI, Dec 9 – On December 8, the signing ceremony of Lishen Battery’s new project with annual output of 36Gwh was held in Quanjiao, Chuzhou, Anhui.

The total investment of the project is about 15.2 billion yuan. It is planned to build a lithium-ion battery project with an annual output of 36GWh, and the construction will start in the first quarter of 2022.

Lishen Battery is a domestic long-established lithium battery company. Its new energy business covers two major sectors: consumer sector (3C digital, power tools, electric two-wheelers, etc.) and power sector (power + energy storage).

Lishen Battery has established battery factories in Tianjin, Qingdao, Suzhou and other places and achieved mass production. It has recently started the construction of its base in Wuxi.

On December 4, Lishen Battery announced that the construction of new production lines in Qingdao has started. It is Qingdao Lishen’s first PACK production line, composed of fully automatic module lines and semi-automatic PACK lines. After completion, the annual PACK production capacity will be increased by 2GWh.

On November 16, the Lishen New Energy Industry Base and R&D Center project was launched in Wuxi, Jiangsu. The total investment of the project is 11.2 billion yuan.

The planned annual output of the project is 24GWh lithium-ion power batteries. The project construction is planned to start in 2022 and completed in two phases. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed in 2023. The annual sales of the project are expected to reach 15 billion yuan after it reached the full capacity.

According to the latest data from the Passenger Car Association, in December 2025, producers with new energy wholesale sales exceeding 10,000 units accounted for 93% of the total wholesale sales of passenger NEVs that month. Based on preliminary January data, these producers achieved sales of 830,000 units in January. As most producers have already locked in their major sales figures, by applying the structural proportion from the previous month to the current month's data, the estimated wholesale sales of passenger NEVs nationwide in January were 900,000 units. According to comprehensive preliminary monthly association data: the estimated wholesale sales of NEVs by national passenger car producers in January 2026 were 900,000 units, up 1% YoY.
