SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (SMM) - According to SMM research, the weekly operating rates of tin smelting in Yunnan edged down as a whole. On the one hand, the smelters in Gejiu, Yunnan have resumed the production which were restricted amid air pollution, but some of the local smelters went straight to maintenance during this period. Also, other smelters in Yunnan also had plans of maintenance by the end of the year. Hence the combined operating rates in Yunnan dropped slightly.
The operating rates in Jiangxi, on the contrary, rebounded significantly last week, which is in line with SMM estimate, as some smelters, who have a comparatively large high production capacity, have returned to normal production from environmental protection-related restrictions.
In general, the weekly average operating rate of tin smelters picked up from a week ago.
