[October Global Power Battery installed Top10: China occupies the second echelon of six seats] recently, South Korean market research institute SNE Research released the ranking of global power battery installed capacity in October and January-October 2021. According to the data, the global installed capacity of power batteries was 26.2GWh in October, down 20.4% from the previous month. From January to October, the global installed capacity of power batteries was 216.2 GWH, an increase of 10.6% from the previous month.

Recently, South Korean market research institute SNE Research released the ranking of global power battery installed capacity in October and January-October 2021.

According to the data, the global installed capacity of power batteries was 26.2GWh in October, down 20.4% from the previous month. From January to October, the global installed capacity of power batteries was 216.2 GWH, an increase of 10.6% from the previous month.

Among them, the top 10 enterprises are Ningde Times, LG, Panasonic, BYD, SKI, Samsung SDI, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, CNAC (formerly known as "AVIC Lithium"), Honeycomb Energy, Yiwei Lithium Energy, and Chinese enterprises account for 6 seats.

Specifically, the market share in the Ningde era was 34%, but the installed capacity fell 16% month-on-month to 8.9 GWH; the battery installed capacity of LG was 4.1 GW, down 47.4% from the previous month, with a market share of 15.6%; Panasonic installed capacity was 3.2 GW, down 25.6% from the previous month, with a market share of 12.2%; and BYD's installed capacity also fell 24.1% to 2.2 GWH, with a market share of 8.4%.

It is worth noting that although the market share of the top 10 companies is 88.5%, 77.8% of the market share is occupied by the top five companies, and the competition in the bottom five is still quite fierce.

Compared with September, the ranking of the top five in October has not changed, while the five seats since then have changed dramatically: Guoxuan Tech surpassed Sina Airlines for the first time to become the seventh on the list, while Honeycomb Energy squeezed out Lishen batteries to make the list again, ranking ninth, while Yiwei Lithium Energy replaced Vision AESC for the first time and ranked 10th.

New companies have their own bright spots, and active production expansion is a common feature. The growth rate of installed capacity of Guoxuan Hi-Tech from January to September is much higher than that of the global lithium battery installed capacity, and the growth rate of domestic installed capacity is also higher than that of the industry as a whole. Liu Qiang, an open source securities analyst, believes that the growth rate of installed capacity is significantly higher than that of income. This is because there are more shipments in the first three quarters of 2020, but the actual installed capacity is less (the epidemic affects the postponement of vehicle sales). The growth rate of the company's installed capacity is higher than that of the industry as a whole, because the comprehensive price ratio of the company's products has been recognized by more and more customers, and with the release of the company's production capacity, the market share is expected to continue to increase steadily.

Yiwei Lithium Energy is actively expanding production. In addition to the previous production expansion plan, the company recently disclosed that it will build a 16GWh square iron lithium and 20GWh passenger car large cylindrical battery project in Jingmen and a 50GWh power storage battery project in Chengdu. In this round of expansion, in addition to strengthening iron-lithium batteries, it has also taken the lead in promoting the large-scale industrialization of large cylindrical batteries such as 4680thumb 4695.

Honeycomb Energy recently disclosed large orders for lithium power equipment. Honeycomb's current capacity planning has reached 150GWhh, which is close to the overall 200GWh production capacity target of 2025.

【SMM Nickel Flash】New Caledonia Sets Conditions for Raw Nickel Ore Exports From Three Strategic Reserves
New Caledonia's government adopted a deliberation on September 14 setting the conditions for exporting raw nickel ore from the Tiébaghi, Koniambo and South Laterite (Sud Latéritique) metallurgical reserves. The measure follows a July 22 law that permits, by derogation, the export of ore that local nickel plants are technically or economically unable to process. Export authorisations can be granted for up to 10 years. Under the new framework, mining companies must first offer the ore to local buyers before exporting it. The offer must be made at a floor price aligned with market conditions. Export applications will also be subject to review by New Caledonia's Mining Foreign Trade Committee (CCEM), while companies must submit annual activity reports and provide information on their financial position and the requested export period. The policy could create an additional outlet for nickel ore that cannot be economically processed domestically, potentially supporting mine utilisation and the financial position of local metallurgical operations. However, the requirement to offer the material locally first means exports remain conditional on domestic processing demand and the competitiveness of local buyers.

【SMM Nickel Flash】Indonesia Tightens Mining Contractor Rules Under New ESDM Regulation
Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued Kepmen ESDM No. 365.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2026, tightening requirements on the use of mining-service contractors by mineral and coal mining companies. Under the regulation, IUP/IUPK holders are required to prioritise licensed mining-service companies (IUJP) located in the same regency/city as the mining operation. The use of subsidiaries or affiliated companies as mining contractors is restricted and requires approval from the Minister of ESDM, including arrangements involving direct shareholding or common ultimate beneficial ownership. Applications are subject to a review process, while exemptions may apply to government-assigned activities, including National Strategic Projects, construction of processing and refining facilities, and activities supporting domestic mineral and coal requirements. For the nickel sector, the regulation does not directly change RKAB quotas or nickel ore pricing. However, nickel mining groups may need to review existing affiliated-contractor arrangements, while the new requirements could affect contractor selection, mining costs and operational arrangements.

【SMM Nickel Flash】Sinergi Lestari Targets 2 Million mt of Nickel Ore Trading in 2026 Indonesia-based Sinergi Lestari plans to trade approximately 2 million mt of nickel ore in 2026, according to Petromindo. The trading target comes amid tighter domestic nickel ore availability following adjustments to Indonesia’s 2026 mining quotas. Increased trading activity could provide additional channels for moving ore from miners to domestic nickel-processing facilities. The development highlights the growing role of ore traders in Indonesia’s nickel supply chain as smelters continue to secure feedstock amid constraints on domestic ore availability.
