At present, there are 99 rare earth industrial enterprises, including 61 rare earth new materials enterprises, 30 rare earth terminal application enterprises, and 92% of the total rare earth new materials and terminal application enterprises. It has successively introduced and established Baotou rare Earth Research Institute, Baotou Materials Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotou University, Baotou rare Earth Research and Development Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Inner Mongolia rare Earth functional Materials Innovation Center.

Rare earth permanent magnet industry, gathered 50 related enterprises, with sintered permanent magnets, bonded permanent magnets, samarium cobalt permanent magnets, cerium iron boron magnets and other products diversified development pattern. Among them, there are 20 rare earth permanent magnet material enterprises, including Jinli permanent magnet, Dadixiong, Tianhe magnetic material, Yunsheng strong magnetic material, Jinshan magnetic material, etc., and 17 rare earth permanent magnet post-processing components and supporting enterprises, including Inster, Hengyu Magnetic Source, Honghao Xinda, etc. There are 13 magnetic materials application enterprises, including CRRC Motor, Changan permanent Magnet, Zhongke Intelligence, Jiangxin Micro Motor, rare Baobowei and other enterprises, the products are related to wind power robots, mobile phone cameras, medical devices and other terminal fields. The designed production capacity of rare earth permanent magnet materials reached 65000 tons. In 2020, the output of rare earth permanent magnet alloy materials was 12351 tons, an increase of 34 percent, and that of rare earth permanent magnet blank materials was 17127 tons, an increase of 34 percent. The output value of permanent magnet materials accounts for 90% of the output value of new rare earth materials.

In terms of rare earth hydrogen storage and polishing industry, there are 8 enterprises in rare earth hydrogen storage industry, including 4 rare earth hydrogen storage materials enterprises, including rare earth hydrogen storage materials, Sande battery, Zhongke Xuanda, Xinpu new materials, and 4 rare earth hydrogen storage application enterprises. including Haoming new power supply, rare-earth Orco battery, Evergreen battery and other Ni-MH battery enterprises, has initially formed rare earth hydrogen storage materials and downstream rare earth Ni-MH battery industry chain. The designed production capacity of rare earth hydrogen storage materials has reached 10, 000 tons, with an output of 2438 tons in 2020, ranking first in the country and accounting for more than 30% of the country. There are 10 enterprises in rare earth polishing industry, including Tianjiao Qingmei, Hao Rui rare earth, Hailiang science and technology, Zhongke Yuhang, Lichen technology, Xinyu rare earth and other enterprises, initially forming rare earth lanthanum cerium-rare earth polishing material industry chain. The designed production capacity of rare earth polishing materials has reached 36000 tons, with an output of 11161 tons in 2020, ranking first in the country and accounting for more than 35 percent of the country.

In terms of rare earth catalysis and alloy industry, there are 5 rare earth catalytic materials and equipment enterprises, mainly including: Seagate environmental protection catalytic promoter, Lent technology catalyst, rare earth catalyst for synthetic rubber with new materials and medicinal rare earth catalyst; rare earth promoter products include northern rare earth PVC heat stabilizer; rare earth colorant products include mid-century rare earth colorant. Rare earth lanthanum cerium-rare earth catalysis, auxiliaries, colorant materials and other industrial chains have been formed. There are 6 rare earth alloy material enterprises, including Zhongke rare earth special steel innovation center rare earth bearing steel, rare earth special steel, Jiatai metal rare earth titanium alloy, Huijin new material rare earth aluminum alloy, crystal ceramic zirconium industry color rare earth stabilized zirconia nanometer powder material and other enterprises. the application of rare earth in steel, aluminum, copper and other fields has been continuously expanded, and it has a good foundation for the development of rare earth + alloy industry.
