[BYD "Battleship" is a new car or "Destroyer 05" will hit 1 million new energy targets next year. Two months after registering the trademark of the marine "battleship" series, according to BYD insiders, BYD's ocean and dynasty series of new cars will be unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show, which opens on November 19th, hitting the sales target of 1 million-1.2 million new energy vehicles next year.

Two months after registering the marine "battleship" series trademark, BYD insiders revealed that BYD's ocean and dynasty series of new cars will be unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show, which opens on November 19. in turn, it will hit the sales target of 1 million-1.2 million new energy vehicles next year.

The first car of BYD's marine design concept will be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, according to BYD's official Weibo. According to the above-mentioned person, the car may be named "Destroyer 05", which is BYD's previously declared F5 model. Judging from the application information, this car is positioned as a compact model, which is not much different from the body size of the BYD Qin PLUS DM-i, and is more like a "sister model".

It is worth mentioning that this is and will be the first model with 1.5L DM-i plug-in hybrid system under BYD's marine design concept.

Plug-in hybrid models are an important driver of BYD's sales growth this year. From January to October, BYD sold 184445 plug-in hybrid cars, an increase of 465.11% over the same period last year, accounting for 45% of its total sales of new energy passenger vehicles, almost on a par with pure electric passenger cars. In addition to Destroyer 05, Song Pro DM-i, which was unveiled at this year's Guangzhou Auto Show, is also a plug-in hybrid model.

According to BYD, the Destroyer 05 will be sold on BYD e. Com. "the company is combing through the sales network. In the past, there was a lack of blockbuster models on e-net, so some models of the Song family were adjusted to be sold on e-network, but with the addition of new models of the ocean series, Song's models may return to dynasty network sales." The above-mentioned BYD insider said.

In February this year, BYD set up four major divisions, and its two major brands dynasty series and e-series also adjusted their products. Among them, the e-net sales channel includes Song Classic, Song PLUS, Song PLUS DM-i, Song PLUS EV, e2 and other models.

In August this year, e-net welcomed the first model of the BYD Ocean series, the dolphin. Official figures show that BYD sold 6018 dolphins in October.

According to BYD's plan, after dolphins, seals, seagulls and sea lions of the Ocean Series will also be put on the market one after another. "the seagull will be a small sedan, positioned lower than the dolphin but slightly higher than the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, or an entry-level model for the marine series; the seal will be a medium-sized sedan against the standard Tesla Model 3; and the sea lion will be positioned as a medium-to-large SUV, versus the standard Tesla Model Y. Seals and sea lions may be available in the second and fourth quarters of next year. " Some people in the industry disclosed to the Financial Associated Press.

Also based on the concept of marine design, BYD also listed the "battleship" camp. In September this year, BYD applied for registration of "frigate", "landing ship", "destroyer", "battleship" and other trademarks. Next, BYD will also use a younger product positioning to continue to fill the gap in the e-net sales network.

However, while new cars continue to be launched, BYD also faces "growing pains". BYD revealed at the exchange meeting in the middle of this year that its cumulative orders this year may reach 900000 vehicles, but its delivery capacity can only reach 700000-750000 vehicles, and the current outstanding orders of 160000 vehicles will be postponed to next year. Based on current fundamentals, BYD believes that car delivery is expected to reach 1.5 million next year.

However, according to BYD in response to investor inquiries in the middle of this year, its overall annual passenger car production capacity is now 600000 (including traditional fuel vehicles and new energy). Based on this calculation, there is no doubt that there is a huge gap in its production capacity. At present, BYD has stepped up vehicle expansion in Changsha, Zhengzhou and other places.

In addition to the lack of vehicle capacity, the capacity of the power blade battery used in the BYD plug-in hybrid series also needs to be improved. "the key to the continued growth of plug-in hybrid models is the power blade battery, which is currently produced in Qinghai and Xi'an, and the president of Fudi is said to be personally supervising the war." The above-mentioned industry insiders further disclosed.

Chile's Water Crisis Threatens Atacama's Copper and Lithium Mining Amid 14-Year Drought
Chile’s most pressing crisis at present is the issue of water resources. The Atacama Desert in Chile is one of the driest regions in the world and also the core area for copper and lithium ore extraction. The local area has experienced a drought for as long as 14 years, and reservoir storage has fallen to only about 30%. For miners, water resources are not a secondary issue, but an indispensable key production factor in such processes as ore processing, dust suppression, and equipment cooling. The decline in ore grade has further exacerbated the predicament

Trump Adjusts Metal Tariffs, Applies 50% Rate to Consumer Prices Under Section 232, Details Unclear
US President Trump adjusted the national security tariffs on imports of steel, aluminum, and copper, lowering the tariff rates on derivative products made from these metals, streamlining compliance procedures, and preventing the declared value of imports from being understated.A senior Trump administration official said that, under a proclamation signed by Trump, the US would continue to maintain a 50% import tariff on imports of metal commodities such as steel, aluminum, and copper pursuant to Section 232 of the Trade Act of 1974, but would apply this rate to the price paid by US consumers. It is currently unclear how the selling price—and the resulting tariffs—would be determined.
