SK Innovation recently announced that the backlog of orders for the electric vehicle battery business, which was recently spun off to SK on, reached 220 trillion won.

Businesskorea reported that, SK Innovation disclosed the figures during a third-quarter earnings call. The company reported an operating profit of 618.5 billion won and sales of 12.3 trillion won in the third quarter of 2021. Operating profit increased by 672.2 billion won over the same period last year, while sales increased by 48.1% year-on-year.

Yoon Hyung jo, vice president of, SK Innovation's battery planning room, specifically disclosed the company's backlog of battery orders during the conference call.

Following the recent joint venture with Ford, our order backlog has increased to about 1.6 TWH, with an estimated value of 220 trillion won, Yoon Hyung jo said.

It is understood that the total annual production capacity of, SK Innovation plants in South Korea, the United States, China and Hungary is about 40 GWh,. It is planned to increase production capacity to 85 GWh, by 2023, to 200 GWh, by 2025 and to 500 GWh by 2030. It plans to account for more than 1/5 of the global electric vehicle battery market by 2030.
