The operating rates across the licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 49.62% in the week ended October 22, down 6.55 percentage points from the previous week mainly due to the expanding power rationing, showed an SMM survey.

SHANGHAI, Oct 22 (SMM) – The operating rates across the licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 49.62% in the week ended October 22, down 6.55 percentage points from the previous week mainly due to the expanding power rationing, showed an SMM survey.

The output across Xinda, Dadao, Huabo and other smelters in Anhui fell slightly due to the power rationing. In Henan, Jinli reduced the output as the production was affected by the power restrictions in Jiyuan city. Anhui Tianchang suspended the production due to the certificate renewal and the environmental friendly equipment update. The output of Shandong Zhongqing was also suppressed by the power rationing.

The rising lead prices restored the profits of the secondary lead smelters this week, which boosted the secondary lead production. The output of Guangdong Hongxing increased slightly, and Jiangxi Xinya resumed the production this week.

The operating rates across the secondary lead smelters are expected to decline amid the intensifying power rationing.
